The PA state Senate has sent a bill to Governor Tom Corbett that will authorize a $2 per pack tax on cigarettes to raise cash for Philadelphia schools. Governor Corbett, said in a statement that he would sign the bill authorizing the cigarette tax for city schools as soon as it reached his desk.

Philadelphia Police have identified the suspect who shot and killed a 15-year-old girl and injured a 19-year-old man outside of Einstein Hospital yesterday. They are looking for 19-year-old Darian Person of the 1900 block of Rowan Street. A large group of teens from Delaware Valley Charter High School gathered at the SEPTA Transportation Center at Broad and Olney for a scheduled fight Monday afternoon. Overturned tractor trailers made a mess for morning commuters around Philadelphia today. The first overturned Southbound on I-95 at Bridge Street blocking 3 lanes and stopping traffic in both directions. On the Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike, another tractor trailer overturned on 476 South between Quakertown and Lansdale backing up traffic for miles. Philadelphia Police say a 15-year-old girl is dead, and a 19-year-old man is in critical condition after both were shot just half a block from Einstein Medical Center in Olney late Monday afternoon. A group of more than 50 teens and young adults were near Broad and Olney, then minutes later police were called about shots being fired in that area. The boy from Harrington, Kent County surrendered himself to Harrington Police on Thursday accompanied by his guardian. His identity has not been released because he is a juvenile.
